Scriptide’s Journey to CEATEC 2024: Strengthening Connections in Japan’s Digital Innovation Landscape
In October 2024, Scriptide had the opportunity to participate in CEATEC, Japan’s largest digital innovation trade fair, as part of the Digital Business Mission organized by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation. Representing Europe as one of twelve selected companies, we joined CEATEC not as newcomers, but as a team with four years of experience in the Japanese market. This trip was about further expanding our client base, strengthening existing partnerships, and exploring new ways to support Japan’s digital evolution.

Why Japan?
Japan has always been a strategic focus for Scriptide. We’ve developed strong connections here, and we see ongoing potential for partnerships grounded in mutual respect and shared standards of quality. Japanese businesses, known for their commitment to reliability and long-term relationships, align closely with our values. There’s also a notable demand for digital transformation in Japan, particularly in building complex systems—a need our custom software solutions are well-suited to address.
Japan represents a two-way learning process for us. We bring expertise in agile development and advanced technologies, supporting Japanese businesses in their digital goals. At the same time, we benefit from Japan’s meticulous approach to quality and client service, which has influenced our practices and enhanced the quality of our solutions.
Our CEATEC Experience
CEATEC proved to be an exceptional experience. The event was extensive, with a vast array of participants presenting solutions across many industries. The level of engagement from attendees was remarkable; visitors showed a genuine curiosity about our technologies and took the time to understand how our solutions might benefit their business.
The thoughtful, in-depth questions we received led to some productive conversations, which highlighted another strength of Japan’s business culture—a focus on substance and detailed exploration of potential partnerships. These interactions went beyond the surface, giving us a clearer sense of the specific challenges Japanese businesses face and how we might help address them.

Key Takeaways for Entering the Japanese Market
Our experience at CEATEC reinforced the importance of knowing Japanese when engaging with Japanese businesses. While many attendees spoke English, using basic Japanese phrases made a positive impression. Having an interpreter allowed us to dive deeper into conversations, and our efforts to communicate in Japanese were clearly appreciated.
For companies expanding into Japan, investing in language skills or bringing an interpreter can make a real difference in building rapport. At Scriptide, we’re committed to continuing our Japanese studies to support future interactions in this market.
Looking Forward
Attending CEATEC has reinforced our commitment to supporting Japan’s digital transformation. The event confirmed our belief that Japan remains an ideal market for companies like ours that emphasize quality, reliability, and innovation. We return with strengthened connections, new insights, and a clearer sense of how we can contribute to Japan’s digital growth.
Thank you to the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation for organizing this opportunity, and to everyone who made our experience at CEATEC 2024 both insightful and productive. We’re excited to take the next steps in Japan, building on the partnerships and momentum we’ve gained.

Cultural Foundations of UX: Understanding Japanese User Behavior
Effective UX design starts with understanding the people you’re designing for. Culture shapes how users interpret information, navigate interfaces, and make decisions. That’s why a design that works well for a Western audience won’t necessarily work for an Eastern one. Culture significantly influences how we perceive the world and how we interact with technology. When we understand the cultural variables that shape our users’ perceptions, we can more accurately identify what needs improvement and design experiences that feel intuitive to them. After reading this article, you will gain insight into how deeply culture impacts UX design, and why a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works across different regions.
